About the Groom
Gregory is a 1996 graduate of Anchor Bay High School. He is currently employed full-time as the Team Leader / Manager of SPD at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Greg has been employed with Beaumont for over 6 years.
Greg has lived in most recently in Harper Woods and Roseville. He has owned a home in Roseville, Michigan since July 2005. He has a passion for NCAA football and NFL football. He also enjoys watching movies and collects any that he deems worthy!
About the Bride
Shannon is a graduate of Baker College. She has an Associates in Computer Science and a Bachelor in Computer Programming and Database Technology.
She currently works at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in Detroit, Michigan as the Systems Administrator. With full-time school finally off the schedule, she is enjoying the time spent wedding planning!
Shannon lives in a condo she purchased in Warren, Michigan and has been there since 2003. She scouted the area for a church in the city that made her feel like she was welcome just the same as St. Marks, St. Catherines or Holy Cross. She finally found that in St. Clements Catholic Church in Centerline, about 3 miles from home. She and Greg are both looking forward to Fr. Mike performing the ceremony.
How We Met
In 2005, Greg was renting a room in a house in Harper Woods. Shannon was living in Warren and working in Southfield as a Web Application Developer. Shannon became friends with a young woman named Rachel. Rachel also happened to rent a room in her house to Greg.
One night in March 2005, Rachel invited Shannon out with a group of her friends. On her way over, Rachel wanted to be sure it was alright that her "guy" roommate came along since he would be the only guy out with the group. Shannon didn't know anyone that would be there anyway, so it didn't matter to her!
Greg and Shannon ended up talking a lot that night. Later that week Rachel told Shannon that her roommate had been asking about her. Rachel asked Shannon if she would be interested in going on a date with Greg. Shannon figured she had nothing to loose.
After the first date, Shannon and Greg rarely spent time apart.
How We Got Engaged
June 21, 2006
In June, Shannon had a break from school. The only thing they wanted to do for a vacation was get away... from everything. No phones, no computers, no electricity. They planned a trip to The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula. Where they would camp for a week on Lake Superior.
On the second day of the camping trip, they headed over to Miner's Rock Lookout after lunch. Greg had been acting a little strange all morning, but Shannon didn't think anything of it at the time.
The Miner's Castle was way more touristy than they anticipated, but it was still a gorgeous view. They decided to take the small trail to Miner's Falls. It was about a 2 mile hike each way.
When they got to the lookout, the view was spectacular. They admired the breathtaking waterfall for a moment. It was about that time that Greg got down on one knee and asked Shannon to marry him...
Of course she said YES!
